Phosphorus and Nitrogen are essential nutrients for crop production. However, their inefficient use poses serious environmental problems whilst nutrient scarcity depletes soils and affects crop productivity. During the symposium keynote speakers will give an overview of nutrient management and efficiency challenges as well as solutions for improvement at different scales of agricultural systems. Students will present the results of their analysis on nutrient flows, budgets and use efficiency in long term field experiments (LTEs) in Switzerland and abroad. Together, these presentations will give new insights into current challenges and solutions towards sustainable plant nutrition.
This symposium is the final event of the ETH Zurich course “Current aspects of nutrient cycle in
agroecosystems”.
