Pedologists are active in research and education, in administration and the private sector. The SSSS FACILITATES the transfer of knowledge between them.

Today, the SSSS counts 360 members. The society is open to all interested people. The legal basis and the linked institutionalization of soil protection that have come into being since the founding of the society have found expression in the composition of the members: besides the higher education institutions and the research institutes, numerous administrative offices or rather their collaborators are members of the SSSS.

Three different memberships are available:
Full membership: 100.-
Student membership: 0.-
Collective membership: 300.-

Donator members obtain their membership owing to generous financial support of the SSSS. Members who render outstanding services to the society can be appointed as honorary members. They do not pay a membership fee.
